When I cut for a 1/2 yard the size is 36quot;x21quot; and then for a fat quarter, it#39;s cut in half again for the 21quot;x18quot; size. When the fabric is dyed and washed, the fabric shrinks a a little bit and depending on the fabric count and some fabric counts shrink more than others. Please keep in mind that even though the fabric shrinks through the dye process, you never lose any holes, they just got a tiny bit smaller. Because the measurements vary after fabrics are washed and dried, I always note the pre-dye cut measurement in my fabric ads. This is the measurement you should use if you use a cross stitch calculator for your chart to determine the size fabric you need to stitch on. 16 count for example often shrinks the most and it#39;s a little challenging to iron out after it#39;s washed and dried but I try my best to gently stretch it back out so it#39;s nice to stitch on when you receive it. Often a dyed piece of 16 count aida is close in size to an undyed 18 count aida fabric piece and a dyed 14 count aida fabric piece is often close to a 16 count undyed aida fabric piece. Please note that it#39;s always best to start stitching in the middle of the fabric piece. Since reopening our centres, over 35,000 visitors of all ages have been able to enjoy some much needed Covid-secure outdoor learning and fun. Our online courses and resources have supported outdoor learning throughout last 18 months, but now it’s great to welcome real as well as virtual visitors.
My staff have said how good it is to hear children again, see them engage with nature first hand and enable them to make the most of their time with classmates and teachers in beautiful surroundings.
There is no substitute for the real thing, and many will have had enough of learning by being cooped up indoors, staring at a screen. Time spent in our stunning locations with our expert staff helps engage every learner as they connect with nature, teachers and peers.
Despite changes to course content, assessment and exams for 2022, schools are still being encouraged to offer outdoor learning and fieldwork opportunities. We all know the value of learning by first hand experiences that consolidate knowledge and fix it in the memory. Learners are still required to answer fieldwork questions in exams. We encourage you to come to our centres so that they can experience fieldwork first hand, learn by doing and develop knowledge and skills needed for work or further study.
There isn’t a lesson in the school day that can’t be enriched by connecting to nature, or a subject in the curriculum that can’t be enhanced by outdoor learning.
